Nobody likes record keeping.  Record keeping is like the messy basement of the financial services industry.  Tons of valuable records, and you absolutely need them to manage any kind of financial instrument, but don't ask how all that stuff works down in the basement.

Executives at custodial companies don't like record keeping, because it's expensive and complex.  They're not even sure if they want their company to be doing it.  Investment managers need it, but want someone else to do it for them.  Outsourced service providers will take it on, but it's a low margin business, because everybody wants something different, and all their legacy systems are only designed to do one thing, which is typically not what their customers want. Intermediaries need to interact with a varitey of fund companies in order to distribute their funds, but invoicing for fees is a complex and sticky business.  Operations people struggle with the old systems someone built for the last customer, and they have to continually pile on new Excel spreadsheets to get the job done.  Regulation changes are horrendously painful to implement.

Capnetix has changed all that.  We like record keeping.  Why?  We took a completely fresh look at the problem, and found a really good way to do it.  No more monolithic legacy monstrosiities.  No more "tacked on the side" spreadsheets.  No hardware or software to install.  No more wasted time performing useless reconciliations and standing at fax machines to send out trade confirms and month end reports.  IT people are freed up to work on higher value projects.  Everyone gets immediate, 7x24 access to clean and organized data from their Internet browser.  Investment managers can choose from multiple fund structures, for both domestic and international funds.  Operations people can provide customized processing for individual fund families, with no increase in labor.  Everyone has access to multiple customized reports, in multiple formats.

There are lots of different types of record keeping.  Capnetix first production service provides off the shelf record keeping for Institutional Transfer Agency (TA).  We have built and are now deploying our first production software service, called Fundix.  Fundix provides an off the shelf, customizable, scalable and easy to use transfer agency solution for a variety of comingled unitized funds, either domestic US or multi-currency fund families.  Either a stand-alone, manual, low volume application, or one that scales up for high levels of automation and integration with automated trading platforms.

Fund companies that distribute their funds througn intermediaries have tremendous difficulties with managing intermediary fee invoices, and tracking them against the original fee agreements.  Capnetix is now piloting it's InvoiceConnect service to automate this process.  Find out more, and join us as we cut labor, improve data accuracy, and provide real-time reporting to decision makers.

Very few companies can start fresh with a new TA infrastructure.  Most companies already have an established TA system.  Messy basement or not, most companies are working with a pre-established infrastructure, and nobody changes that overnight.

Regardless of where you are, we can help you, either to incrementally improve what you already have, or to start today building on a new, modern TA foundation.
