CompenSight- Modern Intermediary Compensation Management and Oversight

In 2009, the Investment Company Insititue (ICI) and Indepedent Directors Council (IDC) published a paper, entitled "Navigating Intermediary Relationships" to help independent directors gain deeper insight into the complex field of Intermediary Oversight.

Part of that paper presented how fund complexes compensate intermediaries for
  • servicing end investors
  • offsetting record keeping and administration expenses
  • marketing and distributing their funds (12b1) and
  • providing incentives to intermediaries through revenue sharing agreements.

These different compensation agreements have historically been negotiated by relationship managers, and represented by paper contracts.

Intermediaries then email invoices to the fund companies for payment.  Fund companies then manually validate the invoices against paper contracts, and process them using excel spreadsheets.

Capnetix spoke with several fund companies about how complex and risk prone this problem was for them.  Based on their input Capnetix developed technology to automate much of what has historically been done manually, simplifying the management of intermediary compensation and oversight.

After more than 3 years of development, multiple successful pilots, and over a year in production at a major mutual fund company, Capnetix is pleased to announce CompenSight.
